There are so many memorable characters in The Nutcracker, but my favorite are the Nutcracker himself and the evil Mouse King, so of course they had to be included! With regal gold accents and a jewel tone color palette, this gingerbread house is bright and cheerful!

At the time that I created this modern farmhouse gingy, we were building our own “farmhouse” in the country, so country livin’ was on my mind. Additionally, a construction boom in our area resulted in modern farmhouses popping up everywhere. So basically the signs were all pointing to making a modern farmhouse gingy!
This gingerbread house was inspired by a train ride through the Black Forest region of Germany. I remember the view from our train car vividly. There we so many lovely deer prancing through what appeared to be a magical forest. My husband thinks it looks like it came from a Wes Anderson movie, and that’s a compliment because all of his favorite movies are Wes Anderson.
This penguin’s cottage gingerbread house is a favorite of my kids. The whimsical penguins add delight to this happy house, and the colorful stone covered walls and chimney add style to this cute cottage. Let your imagination run wild, dreaming of a penguins waddling around the North Pole getting ready for Christmas.
This gingerbread house is a whole mood. When I see it, I just imagine driving to a little cabin in the mountains where you can curl up with a warm blanket by a cozy fire, sipping a hot toddy and reading a good book. Who doesn’t want to escape the holiday hustle and bustle every once in a while. The red truck is so nostalgic and has become a favorite Christmas symbol. If I had a cabin like this, I would definitely want a classic vintage red truck to go with it!
Inspiration comes from many places, when it comes to my gingerbread houses over the years. This gingerbread house was inspired by a pie crust cutter set I found at Williams-Sonoma, my absolute favorite store! I was so excited to find the set, complete with Santa and reindeer, and I just knew I had to make this house.
This gingerbread house is all colors and cuteness. I thought I would go with a bright cheerful color scheme instead of sticking to traditional Christmas colors.
What could be more uptown than a brownstone complete with Scottie dogs and a magenta, apple green and yellow color scheme. This gingerbread house just screams fun in the city! It reminds me of fun festive shopping days and the bright lights all over the city.
